OUR STORY
McCall Bodenhamer (right) and Mati Park (left) are sisters and co-owners of Olive & Honey. Aside from their time in college, they are lifelong residents of Hamilton, Missouri and proud Hornets! Having been inspired by a floral design class at Mizzou while obtaining her Hospitality Management Degree, McCall fell in love with the medium of crafting with flowers. Mati, who graduated from UMKC with a degree in Psychology, fell in love with human interaction and building relationships. On December 1st, 2022, they purchased Tammy’s Flowers from Tammy Gentry in her effort to retire after 29 years of being Hamilton’s beloved florist. Together, McCall and Mati’s combined passions have created the happy little place that is Olive & Honey.
Choosing our name
Our name reflects the natural simplicity and sweetness that flowers bring to life. Honey was inspired by the Christian song, Honey in the Rock by Brooke Ligertwood & Brandon Lake. Olive was inspired by the biblical story of the olive branch being brought back to the ark after the great flood. Both inspiration pieces tell us that we can find good, sweet things in hard and unexpected places. Like olive branches that symbolize peace and honey that represents goodness, we aim to infuse these qualities into everything we do.
Fun Fact: There was a rumor in a neighboring town when we first opened that Olive & Honey were nicknames given to us by our grandparents. Even though that isn’t even half true, we do joke that McCall is Olive because she’s salty and Mati is Honey because she’s so sweet.
YOUR HOMETOWN FLORISTS

Since the day we bought the business and building, we have been open with Tammy’s same hours. We’ve fully gutted and renovated this 6,000 square foot building and haven’t ever been closed for more than a 10-day stretch! We love being able to offer flexibility to our community!
STORIES FROM THE SHOP…
One time, while on a back country road on our way to deliver a flower arrangement, there was a fallen tree across the road. We had to park the car, get out and move the branches so that we could complete the delivery. Nothing stops us from bringing you your flowers!
Leading up to our first Valentine’s day (just 3 months into owning the shop), we spent dozens of hours doing an extra, tedious step with each rose (about 2,000 of them!). We later learned that step was totally un-necessary. This was a great learning experience for us as first-time flower shop owners.
